The Festival International des Textiles Extraordinaires (FITE) offers this unique meeting by creating a international scene in order to show off textiles which have a strong cultural or patrimonial meaning. The idea is to invite all the 5 continents, to make craftpersons, designers, creators, artists and more from differents countries meet each other. This event wants to show the human issues, the economic issues and the ecologic issues inseparable from extraordinary textiles.

Mission, vision & value


One theme is voted for 2 years; after “Metamorphosis”, “Rebirth” and “Rebels”, it’s the theme “Deviations” that will be explored during the 2018-2019 editions. During 5 days, numerous actions and activities will be available.

The pair years, the Festival takes place in Clermont-Ferrand, in Auvergne (France); the impair years, The FITE is flying to an other country.

In Hué, Vietnam in 2013, then in Manila, Philippines in 2015 and in Mexico, Mexico in 2017, It’s in Romania that the FITE will settle down for the 2019 edition.


The HS_Projets association, association under the 1901 Law. International actors of textiles : artists, designers, dancers etc. The association works to structure exchanges and cooperation between regional, national, european and international actors by organizing events such as the FITE.


The City of Clermont-Ferrand which candidate to be the european capital of culture for 2028, support the Festival initiative which add value to a locan and international project about textile.


The Museum Bargoin, whose collections are unique in France, pursue a remarkable work on extra-european textiles invite us to an unseen travel.


Clermont Auvergne Métropole, urban community, work for the reinforcement of the intercommunalitiy to make things better together, especially as part of the new region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes



In 2012, the FITE welcomed 12 000 visitors, then 25 000 in 2014 and 1200 persons were part of its conception.

For the “Rebels”edition in Clermont-Ferrand, in 2016, The FITE welcomed 38 000 visitors and 1700 persons were part of its conception.
